E-learning is a rapid growing trend in Education industry. E-learning is basically defined as providing learning through online means i.e. use of internet and devices like computer, mobiles and tablets.
If you are planning to develop your own solution to educate your students then you should have proper idea about its modes and should made a decision on modes through which you want to educate. E-learning is often thought as asynchronous learning; where you get the ability to learn anytime from anywhere.
Is that TRUE?
The answer is probably NO because it can be of three types:
- Asynchronous; where you get the ability to learn any time, any where, anything from the available course material
- Synchronous; here the courses are offered through live classroom and whiteboard sharing techniques. The instructor interacts with students through video conferencing and teachers through screen sharing. This follows anywhere approach but not anytime.
- Hybrid; This involves a combination of both synchronous and asynchronous methodologies.
The LMS selection to develop an E-learning solution totally depends on the type of learning solution that is to be developed. There are several key players that provides in-built features depending on type of mode.
